What Cover do I have?
It covers theft when the property is unaccompanied by the participant
Losses arising out of the following are not covered:
- Wear and tear, depreciation, destruction by insects, inherent vice, rust
- Theft by employees or willful act of insured
- Theft when the property is unaccompanied by insured or their employee
- Mysterious disappearance
- Theft from unoccupied vehicle unless stolen from a locked boot or locked luggage compartment.
- Scratching of lenses or glass
- Breakage of articles of brittle nature unless caused by fire or thieves
- Confiscation or detention by customs or other official authority
- Mechanical or electrical derangement or breakdown unless caused by accidental means
- Your policy cover will normally run for 12 months and is renewable annually.
How much must I pay if I have a claim?
- You will pay 10% of each claim subject to a minimum specified in the policy document
How do I make a claim?
You should report to us immediately. We will ask you for the following:
- Completed claim form
- Police abstract report; for lost items, robbery or other incidences requiring police intervention.
- Evidence of value in form of purchase receipts and replacement receipts
- In case of damage to items insured provide either an estimate of the repair costs.
- If beyond repair or restoration, salvage items should be surrendered to us in which case we require current replacement value of the items damaged.
Can I cancel the policy ?
You should report to us immediately.
You may cancel the policy at any time by telling us in writing via email to talktous@takafulafrica.co.ke. We may cancel the policy by giving you seven days’ written notice to your last known address. We will charge you on a pro rata basis for the time we have been on cover plus an administration fee of Ksh.1,000 and pay any refund due to you. There will be no refund if we have paid a claim or one is outstanding at the time you cancel your policy.
